While alchemy is an occult science the practice of which primarily takes place in a laboratory, it is indeed a spiritual discipline which brings about development of the operator by means of the higher nature of its labour. As it is an art & science whose principles are universal, the spiritual aspect is seen in the practical work in the lab just as the aspect of the latter is seen in the former.

Steve Kalec, a member of the Philosophers of Nature, a Freemason, and and an Initiate of AMORC, here presents the symbolic and greater philosophical depths of alchemy, speaks at length on the Secret Fire of the outer and inner work, as well as areas of practice in the laboratory. Not only by directly addressing the topics in a lecture, but also by having the participants engage in alchemical meditations as well as presenting the operative and mystical dimensions of the Royal Art in an allegorical play. Toward the end of the seminar, Steve’s method of “Volatilization of Salts”—which has today achieved a sort of fame in the alchemical community—is described together with photographs of the process.

NOTE: Unfortunately, the video quality of this series is not as good as most of the other Philosophers of Nature videos released by P.O.N. Press. We have done our utmost to clean up and improve image as well as audio, but considering how these are digitizations of old VHS videos—videos which had already deteriorated somewhat, at that—what we could do was limited. It is, however, sufficiently clear in audio and video for the viewer to comprehend everything taught. Thus, we hope it will be enjoyed and found greatly educational, nonetheless.
